How to change boot options on a Windows 8 Computer

Changing a Toshiba Satellite C855D  from Windows 8 to windows 7.

So over the weekend I had the task of downgrading a Toshiba C855D-S5307 laptop from windows 8 to windows 7.  It was quite a hassle because they were so many steps to take and also there was a couple of driver problems that I had to over come as well.

To change your Operating System from windows 8 OEM to windows 7, you must first start with the bios or it is now called the  U.E.F.I, which stands for (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface).  You gain access to to the U.E.F.I by holding down F2.  Once your in, select the security tab at the top of  the page and scroll down to secure boot.  Highlight secure boot by using your directional button on your keyboard and  press enter to disable secure boot.

After secure boot is disabled, you will then need to go to advance at the top of the page, then select system configuration from the options provided.  You will then need to select boot mode and  change the boot mode from UEFI to CSM Boot.  Hit escape(ESC) to get back to the main bios menu.

Third, you will need to select the boot device you wish to boot from, in my case i will select DVD to install my windows 7 OS.  Hit F10 to save configuration but also make sure that you insert your boot device at this time, because the system will restart once you press F10.

Once the computer restarts, you will need to press any key to boot from the windows DVD.

Disable Secure Boot

Select Advance, Then System Configuration

Select Boot Mode

Change boot mode to CSM Boot

Select the Booting device + DVD  Drive highlight

Press F10 to Save Configuration

Press any key to boot from DVD

Windows Start
Windows Install
